FREELANCERS
FREELANCERS is a feature-length film following the lives of several friends living and working in the Twin Cities, brought to life by Kylee and Christian Creative.
The movie centers on Kate and Colin, a married couple who are up against the mounting financial stress of living in a two-freelancer household; Emily, a take-no-shit creative type who's new to self-employment and is making it work however it works; Tyler, a multi-passionate guy with his eye on the grind and his heart on his sleeve; Missy, an influencer-wannabe with a dark side who hides her true colors behind Instagram stories; and Avery, an overly-optimistic production assistant dreaming of being a hollywood screenwriter.
Since every situation in the movie has happened to us or people we know in real life, we've been told the film's storylines are comically and tragically relatable for artists and creatives -- but we hope an even wider audience will be able to identify with the film's themes of desperation-turned-determination and humor in the face of hard times.
Our freelancing journey began in 2013 when (producer) Kylee convinced (director) Christian to quit his day job and pursue filmmaking full time. While this could be the start of a success story, the reality of building a production company with no consistent clients was sobering, to say the least. The next decade brought some dramatic highs and lows while we found our footing (and our clients!) in the freelance world, collecting the experiences that informed our decision to write this movie.
The film we began writing in 2016 and filming in 2022 will be released in the fall of 2026, but not before we film two more sections this year. Please support independent filmmaking and contribute to our FreeFunder!

Help us Fundraise
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to film the pilot, and all funds received will be used to cover production costs. As the creators/writers/director/producer/editor of the show, we (Kylee and Christian) will not be getting paid, which drastically reduces the amount of money we need to raise.
It is a Minneapolis production through and through, and we are excited to hire fellow local artists and creatives through this project.
